A Guide to Installing a Game from the Epic Games Launcher

Fortnite Now Requires Windows 10 or Higher on PC

If you’re a fan of Epic Games products, you probably visit the Epic Games website pretty often. But if you want to, for instance, access the Store faster without using a web browser every time, you could simply install the Epic Games Launcher on your computer.

The Launcher is basically the desktop app version of the Epic Games web app, meaning that all the content you can find on the website will be also present on the Epic Games Launcher (as for the Steam and Origin desktop apps, for example).

Then, once you’ve installed the Epic Games Launcher, you can proceed with installing the games you purchased from there. So, let’s find out how to install a video game with the Epic Games Launcher!

How to download the Epic Games Launcher

First, you may need help with downloading and installing the Launcher if you haven’t done it yet:

  1. Go to this page
  2. Now click Download Epic Games Launcher (available for Windows and Mac)
  3. You’ll be asked to sign in with your Epic account (you can create it on the spot if you don’t have it)
  4. Lastly, the installer file for the Launcher should start downloading automatically. And if it doesn’t, just click the button that corresponds with your platform to manually begin the download

Install a game using the Epic Games Launcher

Once you’ve installed the Launcher, installing a game from there is super easy:

  1. Open the Epic Games Launcher
  2. Then go to Library
  3. Find the game and click on it to begin the installation
  4. Select the installation directory you wish to use and click on Install
  5. When the download is done, launch the game by clicking on the icon

Possible installation errors and troubleshooting

LS-0004: Game not installed correctly / LS-0006: Installation Failed / LS-0009: Game is not installed

The first error is caused when you’re trying to install a game but the launcher is unable to do so due to a bad file. The second error means that the Epic Games Launcher is unable to install or update your game. The last error occurs when you’re attempting to play a game that’s not installed.

For all errors, try doing this:

Run the Epic Games Launcher as an administrator

  1. Right-click with your mouse on the Epic Games Launcher shortcut
  2. Then click on Run as administrator
  3. Then, try the installation, or update of the game again

Uninstall and reinstall the game

Maybe reinstalling your game could solve the issue:

  1. Open the Epic Games Launcher
  2. Click on the Library
  3. Find your game and click on the three dots next to it
  4. Select Uninstall
  5. Then, once the uninstall completes, click on the game to begin installing it again

Verify the game is installed

  1. While in the Library, select the three dots next to the game
  2. Now click on Verify
  3. Then you should be able to launch it

Manually remove and reinstall the game

In case verifying your game files doesn’t work, try to manually remove your game files from your computer:

  • Close the Epic Games Launcher by right-clicking on the system tray icon and select Exit
  • Now locate the folder where you installed your game

Note: The default installation directory is C:\Program Files\Epic Games\

  • Right-click on the game folder and click on Delete
  • Then restart the Epic Games Launcher
  • Reinstall and try launching your game
