To begin with, we have some design updates and features improvements that will provide you with a more personal and easier experience from behind the wheel. As you see, the new design highlights three important goals for drivers: navigating where you’re going, communicating with friends and family, and playing your music or podcasts.

You’ll be happy to know that Maps is now closer to the driver’s seat so that you can see where you’re going at a glance. Likewise, the new media card was updated as well so that Material You can show your favorite album art, and with the added quick launcher you’ll never have to access your favorite apps again once you start your car. Instead, you will now have them in the recently used apps.

New capabilities for Android Auto

Google decided to implement a new design to make it easier to complete some of your more frequent tasks in the car. Now, the Google Assistant will provide smart suggestions that include missed call reminders, quick arrival time sharing and instant access to music or podcasts.

On the other hand, with the help of shortcuts, you’ll be able to reply to messages faster and find your favorite contacts. Besides, the company stated that they are working on a searchable progress bar for music and podcasts, a much-requested feature.

Share your digital car key with friends and family

You can already share your digital car key across Pixel and iPhone to make it easier to give trusted friends and family access to your car. Furthermore, key sharing is coming soon to Samsung phones, and Xiaomi users will be able to both use and share digital car keys later this year. And already supported on BMW, digital car keys will also continue to expand across more car brands.

The latest car models with Google built-in have the Google Assistant, Google Maps and other Google Play apps by default.
