When you’re hanging out with your friends at your place there’s nothing better than enjoying a good movie together. Or maybe you want to show your friends an interesting video you found on YouTube, or the pictures you took when you went on vacation last time. But how can you do that when the content you want to show everyone is on your phone? Your phone screen is pretty small, so you’d need a larger screen that can display the content in a more satisfactory manner, so that everyone can see. A TV screen, for instance.
Can you play content from your Android phone to your TV?
If you have a Google Chromecast device at home, you can easily cast your Android smartphone screen to your TV. This will allow you and your friends to enjoy the content you have on your phone directly on your way larger television screen. Chromecast devices can be managed through the Google Home app.
Also, while you’re casting a movie to the TV, you’ll still be able to use your phone without disrupting what’s playing, or excessively draining the phone’s battery.
With that said, let’s find out how to cast your smartphone screen to your TV with Google Chromecast!
How to cast your phone screen from the Google Home app with Chromecast
Before we start…
Before you can proceed with using this feature, there’s a few things you should know and do:
– this feature is only available on devices running Android 5.0 or later
– this feature is not supported on iOS or Windows devices
– it’s better if you turn off “Power Saving Mode” on your Android device. Why? Because it can limit the processing power of your device, which consequently might affect the performance of the Cast Screen feature
Turn on “Microphone” permission
Lastly, turning on microphone permissions from the Google Play Services app is necessary in order to successfully use the “Cast Screen / Audio” feature with Chromecast. In fact, if you don’t have said permission turned on, the Cast Screen session will disconnect right away after trying to connect.
Now, do the following to turn on microphone permissions:
– on your Android phone or tablet, go to Settings
– now scroll down and tap Apps > Google Play Services > Permissions
– then, look for “Microphone”, and slide the slider On

– now tap the device you want to cast your screen to
– then select Cast my screen icon > Cast screen
