Did your friends just surprise you with a Nintendo gift card for your birthday? If the answer is yes, then you’re probably looking forward to redeem the 16-digit code on the Nintendo eShop, so that you’ll be able to purchase any game you want. But did you know that you can also redeem Nintendo download codes online while using a browser? In fact, you won’t necessarily need to do it from your Nintendo console.
Then, in this article, let’s find out how to redeem a Nintendo eShop download code online!
What to know about Nintendo download codes
Before we start, there are some things you should know about redeeming Nintendo codes:
– first and foremost, you’ll need to create a Nintendo Account
– in case you’re using a Wii U or Nintendo 3DS, you’re required to link your Nintendo Network ID to your Nintendo Account (I’ll explain how in a minute)
– if the code is for Nintendo Switch content, you’ll need to access the Nintendo eShop on the Switch first
– download codes on the 3DS regarding in-game DLCs and Themes can’t be redeemed online, since:
— in-game DLCs can only be redeemed within the specific video game
— Theme codes can only be redeemed in the Theme Shop

Follow the steps below to do just that online:

— it’s important that the NNID date of birth and country settings match the date of birth
— if you can’t remember your NNID or password, use the Forgot your ID? or Forgot your password? links on the screen: by doing so, you’ll request an email with the information
