Google offers several online services including the Google search engine, the Android operating system, Chrome OS, and web services such as YouTube, Gmail, and the Play Store. Here’s how to restore the Google bar on Android.
Setting up the Google Bar on Android
If you have decided to set up the Google bar on Android, know that the operation is very simple and requires very few steps. First, download the Google app on your smartphone by pressing Install. Then follow these steps:
- On the Android home screen, go to the widget menu (long-press)
- Click on the Google-distributed widgets, then click on the Search widget
- Hold it down to position it on the screen where you want to place it, tap to confirm the changes
- You can now open it and type in the text field what you want to search and then press Enter or select the relevant content
- By clicking on the microphone icon, you can perform a voice search by saying Hey Google/OK Google
- If you want to remove it, hold down the widget and the trash can icon will appear
Customizing the Google Bar
You also have the option to customize the bar, size, and position. Follow these steps:
- Open the Google app (the G-marked icon) and click on More
- Press the Customize widget option and click: the G to change the Google logo; the square and circle to change the shape of the bar, the palette to change the color and the drop for opacity
- Whenever you make changes, click Close to confirm and then Done
- To undo the changes, press Reset default style
- To change the size, go to the Google bar and hold it down until the selection rectangle appears
- Use the indicators on the right and left to adjust the bar size, confirming by pressing any point
Putting the Google Chrome Bar on Android
To put the Google Chrome bar on Android, you will first need to download the browser on your Android, going to the Play Store and clicking Install. Then follow these steps:
- Go to the home screen and to the widget menu
- Select the Widget option at the bottom
- Click on the Chrome widget group and choose Google Search
- Hold down the search bar widget and position it on the screen where you prefer, tapping any point to confirm the changes
- You can now start writing on it or perform a voice search through the Microphone by clicking on its icon
To customize, click on the Google Chrome toolbar and hold down until the selection rectangle icon appears. Use the right and left indicators to adjust the bar size, then press any point to save the change.
