Interview with LUCA SIMONI, ItalyWow CTO, the first app that lets you discover Italy through experiences

ItalyWow is an application intended for travel lovers who like to always have different experiences, according to their needs and passions. Within the application, in fact, the user can choose between different types of experiences and for each experience you can select the proposals filtered by location through the GPS and through their interests.

 Once you have chosen the proposal that interests you most, you can request the travel coupon by clicking on the request Coupon button and you will receive the QR code of your trip with all the services purchased directly on the wallet of your smartphone, convenient, right?

Another interesting service of the ItalyWow app is that of notifications: if in fact, searching among the proposals you have not found something that fully meets your needs, the App will send you a notification when a tour will be loaded in line with your interests.

Hi Luca, nice to meet you and thank you for the time you are dedicating. Tell us more about this beautiful project

Hello. ItalyWow is a bilingual mobile application (but we are activating 5 more languages) that allows you to discover Italy through the travel experiences that our wonderful territories can give. No longer a trip to destinations but to travel experiences that we want to give ourselves, whether we travel with friends, as a couple or with family.

How and when did the ItalyWow idea come about?

Our team gathers figures who have always worked in the world of Tourism and at the beginning of 2019 we wanted to interpret the needs of the modern tourist, always looking for new ideas for traveling, starting to work on the ItalyWow project. At the beginning of 2020 we launched a crowdfunding campaign and even if Coronavirus happened, we managed to have a successful campaign. Unfortunately, the international travel blockade has slowed the spread of our application but we are continuing to invest successfully to position it in countries such as the United States, England, Germany and France.

How long did it take to shape the project?

As I said in just over 10 months we were able to transform what was a simple idea into a high-performance technological tool with some interesting integrations such as geolocalized notifications and the navigation algorithm that takes into account the preferences of those who are using it.

How are users responding?

Very well I would say despite the many limitations that National Tourism still has to suffer. The experiences we offer receive a lot of organic traffic that turns into real bookings helping to support national tourism activities. We would like to point out that no commission is applied to the reservation neither to users nor to tourist activities and that the cost to be present on our application is equal to the cost of one coffee per day

What are WoW experiences? 

Wow experiences are the new travel trend.Whether it is the discovery of an unknown village or the participation in the transhumance towards the pastures or even learning to cook a local dish in the middle of a lyric Opera , everything must make our user to exclaim the fateful WOW

How did you launch your project? Have you used CRO campaigns?

Absolutely yes. With innovative technology behind us, we decided to present it at the beginning of 2020 to an audience of dynamic and modern investors who could support us in its launch. Despite the impact with the COVID pandemic, our contents and our project plan have been validated and we have positively concluded the campaign,
