Not only Meta, big changes also coming for Whatsapp

After the announcement of the switch from Facebook to Meta, even Whatsapp, the most used messaging app in the world, has big news in store for its users. News that surely were born from the need for change and the will to always keep the competitors at an adequate distance. Competitors who have taken advantage of the blocking of the social media of the now Meta platform at the beginning of the month and the rumors around the figure of Zuckerberg to get more and more visibility. To remedy the crisis Whatsapp this time aims to enrich the user experience by adding several features that will soon be available on the app.

Whatsapp communities

Now there seems to be a new way of communicating with more people than the groups we already know: the Communities. Confirmation comes from Wabetainfo, which provided a number of screenshots of this feature from the beta of Whatsapp for iOS and Android. But what is it exactly? Communities is a new place where group admins have more control over groups on Whatsapp, mainly to group other groups easily.

We have been used to hearing about groups on Whatsapp for a long time but there are many differences. The most immediate comparison to understand the difference between groups and communities is with the Discord servers and the respective channels created within it. In addition to being able to send messages to the community chat, admin can build and merge user groups within the community, as well as invite other users to be part of the community through a link that can be shared both publicly and privately. So we’re talking about a large group that contains within it some admin subsets that will have access to community internal group management tools. You can then send messages to a single group of people within the community, which unlike normal groups can be recognized thanks to an icon no longer roundish but square. An update that will allow you to manage and communicate more easily especially if we refer to a work or school.

WhatsApp Pay

Another service thought by the US group that should already be in operation for all customers.

Whatsapp Pay is currently active only in Brazil and India, countries in which it is also achieving a decent success. Just in the last period Zuckerberg is pushing very much its service to try to counter the free and already established services of Google Pay.

For each transaction through Whatsapp, in fact, the App will provide a cashback of $0.68. This operation can be carried out for a maximum of 5 times and then you can reach 3.40 dollars. Obviously each state has its own legislature and for this reason the release times have lengthened. The project in India is gaining ground and this success is pushing other countries to consider using it. Only time will give us an answer and then we just have to wait.
