Rabbit R1: shipping to the U.S. kicks off.

Rabbit R1, a bright orange device, is definitely one of the most memorable devices unveiled this year. If you live in America or Canada you are among the lucky ones who managed to place an order before the first batch sold out, your Rabbit R1 will soon be on its way to you. According to Rabbit‘s statement, the first reservations in the United States will be shipped on March 31 (Easter Sunday). It will take a few weeks for the devices to reach their destinations, but the company estimates that orders for the first batch will be in customers’ hands “around April 24.”

Pickup Party in New York City

Rabbit is also organizing a special pickup event for the devices in New York City on April 23, which will be open to all buyers, not just the first batch. The company will provide more information about the event and early deliveries next week. This event is an excellent opportunity for customers to meet and learn more about the Rabbit R1.

Rabbit R1: A more useful AI assistant

The demo of the Rabbit R1, which took place in parallel with CES, generated great hype and many questions about the purpose of dedicatedAI hardware in the smartphone era. The Rabbit R1 is positioned as a more useful AI assistant that can accompany you wherever you go. The device is powered largely by the LLM of Perplexity, a San Francisco startup. Designed in collaboration with Teenage Engineering, the Rabbit R1 features a physical scroll wheel and rotating camera, as well as an adorable animated bunny that serves as a mascot.

Shipping subsequent batches

While the first batch of the Rabbit R1 is about to ship, buyers who placed their order later will have to wait a few more months to receive their device. Currently, reservations are open for the seventh batch. Rabbit began taking reservations for the Rabbit R1 priced at $199 in January, and the first six batches of 10,000 devices each sold out quickly.
