Spotify has announced that it is bringing its free audiobook service to Canada, Ireland and New Zealand. This new feature will give users in these markets access to 15 hours of free monthly audiobook listening. In addition, Spotify has expanded its audiobook catalog from 200,000 to 250,000 titles. This expansion comes two months after Spotify claimed to be the second largest provider of audiobooks, after Amazon-owned Audible. Since the free service was launched last November, users have listened to more than 150,000 titles.
How to access audiobooks on Spotify
To access audiobooks on Spotify, simply open the app and search the search tab or Home feed. Audiobooks marked as “Included in Premium” can only be listened to by users with a Premium subscription. You can also keep track of your listening hours in the settings menu of the Spotify app. In case you run out of free monthly listening time, you can purchase additional 10-hour packages at an affordable price.
Benefits of Spotify’s audiobook service
Spotify’s audiobook service offers several advantages over other competing services. For example, Spotify recently launched a $9.99 monthly plan that allows free users to access its vast collection of audiobooks in the United States. This plan offers 15 hours of listening time, giving Spotify a way to compete with Audible by targeting users less interested in the music service. While Audible ‘s plan offers users a monthly credit to purchase a title, Spotify’s plan allows users to listen to up to 15 hours of audiobooks in its catalog, enough to listen to more than one title.
Global expansion of Spotify’s audiobook service
Following the success of its audiobook service in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia, Spotify has decided to expand the service to Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand. This global expansion is a sign of growing user interest in audiobooks and Spotify’s willingness to meet the needs of its users worldwide. With an ever-growing catalog of audiobooks, Spotify is quickly establishing itself as a leading audiobook listening platform.
