Three years after the launch of the famous and thrilling BBC/HBO series that premiered in 2019 and brought author Philip Pullman’s sprawling multiworld universe to the small screen, His Dark Materials is coming to an end.

Furthermore, despite the few minutes of the trailer, it hints at how the complex entanglement of the multiverse is approaching a point of cosmic collapse and dusty universal death, connecting the stories and heaping even more responsibility on the shoulders of the stories’ young heroes.

What will the show be about?

With all the details regarding the release date, cast, and trailer cleared up, all that’s left is to wonder what we can expect from the season 3 finale of HDM.

Well, the final episode will be based on Philip Pullman‘s The Amber Spyglass and promises to focus on Lord Asriel’s conflict with the Authority. which means we’ll see a lot more of James McAvoy this time around and how his plot threatens the Magisterium. It may provide commentary on his belief system as well as new information about Dust.

Meanwhile, Lyra and Will’s journey also appears to be more serious than ever, with the possibility of more tragedy ahead. Messing with death will probably have consequences, more specifically those foretold in the prophecy that everyone is very concerned about.
