How to Speed Up your Slow Huawei Phone

By Alex Balaniuc

Have you, by any chance, noticed that it takes forever to load an app on your Huawei phone lately? Is this a sign telling you that it’s time to finally give up on your current mobile device, and purchase a new one? Maybe, but what if you’ve gotten said phone recently? Then, there must be something else you can do to solve your slowness-related issues: in this article, we’re going to find out how to speed up your slow Huawei device!

What is a “slow phone”, exactly?

First, you can tell if your Huawei phone is being slow from these signs:

 – it runs very slowly

– it lags

– it takes a long time to respond

Try the steps listed below to speed up your device, and, after each step, restart the phone to see if the issue is fixed.

Keep in mind: Some of these steps work only on Android 8.0 and up.

Troubleshoot your internet connection

The first step is checking your network and connection settings. A slow internet connection will make your phone perform slower while you’re online. But if you still have internet connection issues, you should contact your network administrator, Internet Service Provider (ISP), or mobile carrier.

Troubleshoot your Huawei phone

1) Restart your phone

– press your phone’s power button for about 30 seconds, or until your phone restarts

2) Check for Android updates

 – open your phone’s Settings app

– near the bottom, tap SystemSystem update (the steps may vary a little from phone to phone)

– then, your update status will appear: follow the steps onscreen if an update is needed

3) Check storage & clear space

On most phones, you can check how much storage you have available in the Settings app. Your phone can start slowing down if less than 10% of storage is free. If you’re running low on storage, you should learn how to free up space. Here’s how you can do just that:
 – open your phone’s Settings app
 – tap Storage
 – next, select Clean up (or Clear data)
 – now, you’ll have to select the data you want to remove from your phone

Troubleshoot apps on your Huawei phone

1) Check for app updates

– open the Google Play Store app

– now, at the top right, tap the profile icon

– then tap Manage apps & devices

– under “Updates available,” choose to update all apps, or a specific app

2) Close apps you’re not using

Apps running in the background can be the cause of your device’s slowness. Usually, you can force stop an app through your phone’s Settings app by going to the Apps section.

3) Find out whether an app causes your problem

There’s the possibility that an app (or more apps) is causing problems to your phone’s performance. Finding out which app is guilty for that is simple:

 – restart your phone

– one by one, remove recently downloaded apps

– after each removal, restart your phone normally. Check whether removing that app solved the problem

– finally, after you’ve removed the app that caused the problem, you can add back the other apps you previously removed
