According to Bloomberg reports, Apple will finally launch new iPads in early May. Among the expected models are a new iPad Pro with OLED display and a faster iPad Air, which will include a 12.9-inch model for the first time. Details of these new iPads have been circulating in the rumor mill since last year.

New iPad Pros with OLED display and M3 chip

The new iPad Pro models will include OLED displays that offer deeper blacks and richer colors, according to sources. They will also feature the new M3 chip, already found in several Macs. These new tablets are expected to be launched along with a redesigned Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard. The latter, with the exception of a new white-colored option, has remained unchanged for four years.

The new iPad Air with M2 processor

As for the iPad Air, it is expected to feature a new processor. Bloomberg did not specify what it will be, but considering that the current model uses the M1 chip and that Apple will probably want to reserve the M3 chip for the more expensive iPad Pro, it seems that the M2 chip is the safest bet. The 12.9-inch screen option will mark the first time the iPad Air line will offer a display larger than 10.9 inches. Although Apple will charge a higher price for this model than its smaller sibling that is expected to launch at the same time, this may be the cheapest option for getting a large iPad screen.

Launch delay to refine software

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman had stated earlier this month that the new tablets would be launched along with the MacBook Air with M3 chip, however the laptop came to market without any iPad. Gurman now reports that Apple’s launch timetable has been delayed to refine the devices’ software and resolve issues related to the “complex new manufacturing techniques” they require.

Conclusions

In conclusion, Apple will launch new iPads in May, including an iPad Pro with an OLED display and a faster iPad Air. These new models will offer significant improvements over previous versions and will be accompanied by redesigned accessories such as the Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard. Despite a delayed launch, Apple is working hard to refine the devices’ software and ensure an optimal user experience. Apple fans are looking forward to discovering all the new features of these new iPads.
