A Smarter Version of Bard

Google has announced exciting new features for Bard. Not only will it eliminate the waiting list and become available in over 180 countries and territories in English, but it will also expand its support for Japanese and Korean. With the goal of supporting 40 languages in the near future. One notable feature is Bard’s ability to display images in its responses, providing a more visual and interactive experience.

In addition, Google has entered into a partnership with Adobe to incorporate art generation capabilities into Bard. According to Kyle, Bard users will be able to create images using Firefly and then customize them using Express.

Within the platform, options for templates, fonts, stock images and other resources from the Express library will be offered so that users will have more creative options at their disposal.

WorkSpace

Google’s Workspace suite is also getting the AI touch to make it smarter, with the addition of automatic table generation (but not formulas) in Sheets and image creation in Presentations and Meet. Initially, the automatic table is simpler, although there will be more to come regarding the use of AI to create formulas.

New features for Slides and Meet include the ability to type in what type of visualization you are looking for, and the AI will create that image. Specifically for Google Meet, that means custom backgrounds.

MusicLM

MusicLM is Google’s new experimental artificial intelligence tool that turns text into music. For example, if you are hosting a dinner party, you can simply type “soulful blues for a dinner party” and have the tool create multiple versions of the song.

Implementing Google Search

Google has introduced two new features in its Search to improve understanding of the content and context of images in search results. These new features include an “About this image” option, which provides additional information, and new markup that identifies AI-generated images.

Both features aim to provide greater transparency about the credibility of images and whether they have been generated by AI, although they acknowledge that this does not completely solve the problem of misinformation in AI images.

Separately, Google is experimenting with an AI-powered conversation mode in Search. Users will see suggested next steps when performing a search, along with an AI-backed snapshot of key information, including links to drill down on the topic.

By selecting the suggested next step, users will enter a conversation mode where they can ask Google additional questions about the explored topic, and context will be maintained from question to question.

In addition, Google has introduced a new filter called “Insights” that will be displayed at the top of some search results when it is felt that users would benefit from the experiences of others.

This will include posts on forums, Q&A sites, and social networking platforms, such as Reddit or YouTube. This feature will make it easier to find relevant links and related videos, providing a variety of perspectives in search results.

The New Sidekick Feature

In addition, Google has also presented Sidekick, an innovative tool. Sidekick aims to improve cues in the AI generation cycle, challenging even human skill in this area.

The Sidekick panel will be located on the side of Google Docs and will remain active by continuously reading and processing the entire document as it is being written, offering contextual suggestions that are tailored specifically to what has been written.

The Sidekick feature represents a significant advance in helping users during content creation. By using artificial intelligence strategically, this tool provides valuable, personalized support to improve writing and overall document quality.

By leveraging its constant and contextual processing capabilities, Sidekick promises to be a reliable companion for writers, offering accurate and relevant guidance at every stage of their work.

Codey

This tool is part of a series of AI-focused coding tools launching today and is also Google’s answer to GitHub’s Copilot, a chat tool used to ask coding questions. Codey is specifically trained to handle coding-related requests and is also trained to handle queries related to Google Cloud in general.

Google Presents ‘Universal Translator’

In a recent revelation, Google has announced the testing of an innovative translation service known as “Universal Translator”. This service has the ability to convert videos into a new language. By lip-syncing the speaker with words that were never spoken. This is an example of recent advances in AI making this feature possible. But it also poses risks that must be considered from the outset.

The process works as follows: the “experimental” service takes an input video. Such as a lecture originally recorded in English from an online course, transcribes the speech, translates it, generates a new voiceover in the same style and tone in the new language. Finally, it edits the video so that the lip movements match the new audio.

Pixel Fold

Google surprised by launching a Pixel Fold phone on May 4, that Google has been working on it for five years. The key to the Pixel Fold experience lies in its software.
