Google is developing Gemini AI, a unified artificial intelligence system, and it appears that the company wants to integrate it directly into its browser, Chrome. This move could make thebrowsing experience more intuitive and efficient for users, allowing them to access Gemini’s features without having to visit the dedicated website.

Chat with Gemini

According to WindowsReport, Google is currently testing a new feature called “Chat with Gemini” in the Chrome Omnibox. The Omnibox is Chrome’s address and search bar, and it has several built-in features to simplify the use of the browser. With this new feature, users will be able to access Google’s AI chatbot by simply typing the “@” symbol followed by their question or request.

Currently, testing “Chat with Gemini” is only available in the Canary version of Chrome, but users can try the feature by manually installing an extension. Here’s how to enable this feature:

  1. Open Google Chrome.
  2. Visit “chrome://flags” in the Chrome address bar.
  3. Search for “Expansion pack for the Site Search starter pack.”
  4. Select “Enable.”
  5. Restart the browser.
  6. Visit “chrome://settings/searchEngines” in the address bar.
  7. Note the shortcut “Chat with Gemini” under “Site Search.”
  8. In a new tab, type the “@” symbol to display the Gemini shortcut, along with other Omnibox shortcuts, such as search tabs, history, and bookmarks.
  9. Select the “Gemini” shortcut.
  10. Enter your question and press “Enter.” You will be directed to the Gemini website to get an answer.

If the test with Canary is positive, it is likely that Google will officially integrate the “Chat with Gemini” feature into the Chrome browser, making it available to all users.

Microsoft Edge and Opera’s AI chatbots.

Interestingly, other competing browsers, such as Microsoft Edge and Opera, have already implemented their own versions ofAI-based chatbots. Microsoft Edge has its own chatbot called “Copilot,” developed in collaboration with OpenAI, while Opera has several browsers with AI integrations, such as Opera One and Opera GX, which include their proprietary system called “Aria” along with other integrations such as ChatGPT.

Google One AI Premium

Google has unified its efforts in the field of artificial intelligence under the name “Gemini.” Recently, the company launched its premium services called “Google One AI Premium,” which include Gemini Advanced, a paid layer of Google’s artificial intelligence system that leverages its latest large language model, Ultra 1.0. These premium services have been bundled with Google’s productivity services and a premium storage plan.

By integrating Gemini AI directly into Chrome, Google could further accelerate the release of new products based on artificial intelligence. The company has demonstrated an ongoing commitment to using AI to improve user experiences in a variety of areas, such as search, productivity, and entertainment.
