How to Add Subtitles to Other People’s Videos on YouTube

One of the favourite websites for most people to share and watch videos is YouTube, because there you can host and find a large amount of content of any kind you want. However, although this platform is a powerful tool with a lot of content, you often come across videos that are in a different language than the one you speak without the possibility of watching them with subtitles in your language; that is why today we are going to talk about how to add subtitles to other people’s videos on YouTube.
Now, if you want to watch a film, series or tutorial and it doesn’t have subtitles, you have several options:
Via a VLC media player
First, you must download the video to your computer and have a VLC media player. Once you have these two tools on your computer, what you need do is to open the video you have downloaded through the VLC player, to do this, just right-click on the video and when a drop-down menu appears, select Open with and then VLC media player. With this done, play it and select the Subtitle tab at the top and then Add subtitle file, once the Windows explorer opens, select the video to open it and that’s it! The subtitles of the video should appear automatically.
Via extensions
This is one of the most popular extensions for this type of function as it is very easy to use and is available for free for Google Chrome. The first thing you need to do is download Subtitles for YouTube. When it is already on your device, enter YouTube to watch the video, now you will notice that a new Search Subtitles interface appears, there enter the name of the video you are watching and select it, with this you should see the subtitles on the YouTube video.
On the other hand, this tool has the default subtitles in English, so if you want to change the language, go to Settings > Subtitle Language and select your preferred language and in this same option will indicate the Shortcuts for greater ease.
Finally, if you prefer external subtitles, just click on Upload to attach SRT files from your computer’s browser or even ZIP files.
This extension allows you to add subtitles to YouTube videos online and is also available for Google Chrome, and is integrated with platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. A particular feature is that it allows you to change the colour of the subtitles, the background and automatically adapts the size of the subtitles to match the video.
