Calibre is a powerful and free computer software that is used to manage the digital library, to open e-books, to convert them, and many other features. It’s available for Windows, Linux, MacOS and Laptop if you want to install it on a USB stick, for example. In this guide we will explain how to convert a CBR file to PDF with Calibre, so that it is supported by most e-book readers.

For the less experienced, CBR is a well-known format that is used in particular for comics. Calibre supports different conversion formats and now let’s see how you switch from a CBR file to PDF on this program.

The first step concerns the installation of Calibre, for those who have not done yet. We remind you that you need to choose the download for the right desktop platform. The second step is the import of CBR files. Then, launch Calibre and click “Add e-book” to load the files in CBR format. Select the file you want and it will be added to the list. Select the file to convert. In the third and last step set the output format and convert. Click on “Convert books” and it will open a window, where on the right you can set the conversion format you want. Here you can set the “PDF” format as the output format. Then selecting “Disable comic processing” will make sure that the original color of the CBR file is not touched, because otherwise it will become black and white in the conversion.

A tip: If you want to keep your CBR, CBZ, CB7, CBT or CBA files in their original format, with the Calibre viewer you can easily browse through them in the same quality without converting them.
