Interview with Giorgio Proglio, TabUi CEO , an innovative application that aims to solve the digital fragmentation of the territory.

How many times has it happened, visiting the beautiful Italian places, not to find useful information on what to see, on the best routes to face, ideas on restaurants and news about events? Definitely a lot. This is because in fact, it doesn’t exist (until today !) a single “place” where you can find all the information you need on all the touristic areas of our country.

The solution to this digital fragmentation is TabUi, the innovative application that, thanks to a powerful digital mapping of the areas, is able to show thousands of contents on historical and environmental heritage, itineraries and places of interest, images, travel tracks, service information, routes, tips and events.

The functions of TabUi

Augmented Reality

This function allows you to read information and content simply by framing with the screen what you are watching.

Wiki TabUi

On each information sheet within TabUi, the user finds a button WikitabUi/Modify this page. The button allows you to send, insert or edit texts and images in the details of the card. In this way the contents already present in the app can be improved and optimized thanks to the contribution of everyone.

Contents

In the app there are thousands of Information: art, culture, food and wine, sport, itineraries, routes, trails, curiosities, points of interest, accessibility etc

Let’s get to know TabUi better with the interview with Giorgio Preglio, company CEO. Hi Giorgio, nice to meet you. Tell us in a few words what TabUi

tabUi is what was not there. Very simply it is an app that, downloaded the first time, follows the user in his movements and reports all the experiences he can do in the territory where he is. It’s a big container

How and when did the idea of TaBui come about?

The idea had been in the head for a long time but the triggering element had not yet arrived. The meeting with foreign tour operators rekindled the fuse understanding the exact importance and need to go and develop what until then was not there. A platform, an app specifically, that could collect all the information of the territory and that could return it to the user in a user friendly mode and a particular ux.è quello che non c’era. Molto semplicemente è un’app che, scaricata la prima volta, segue l’utente nei suoi spostamenti e segnala tutte le esperienze che può fare nel territorio in cui si trova. E’ un grande contenitore

How long did it take to shape the project?

From the idea, to the project, to onboarding, only 6 months have passed. We had too much desire to go out on the market and we gave absolute precedence. Obviously we did it with beta versions and Mockup. But we were sure that we would change the way we do proximity tourism and we began to push as much as possible on architecture and communication.

How is the market responding?

Absolutely fine. Just think that 2 years ago, at our birth, we covered only a small part of the area where we were born but today we are present throughout Italy. Our community is absolutely involved and this allows us to insert fuel, or more and more content within tabUi.

Italy is a beautiful country, but many places remain unknown to many. How useful is technology to improve tourism experience in our country?

For us it is fundamental and tabUi responds to this need. 70% of the content is submitted by our users. This makes the application very POP allowing each of us to be an ambassador of their territory. We Italians are very proud of our land and everyone tries to tell us about their own garden. This means that every little corner of Italy, even unknown, can be shared through digital. In this sense, the augmented reality innovation of tabUi helps a lot.

How did you launch your first project? Did you use crowdfunding campaigns?

The whole project was launched before the app was published. We did an incredible teasing job that immediately brought a lot of attention to tabUi. In 2021 we tried with our first round of investments through an equity crowdfunding operation. In just 7 days we raised all the capital.

What about the future?

Answer 7:

Doing well in Italy! This is our business plan for 2024. We want to become the reference app for proximity tourism. Next we will take care of Europe and the rest of international tourism. But first we want to be recognized in our own home.
