Nintendo Switch Online now lets you send friend requests, the app requires iOS 14

In this article, we are going to talk about the new update for the Nintendo Switch Online. But first I want to give a little explanation to the people who do not interest in this world of video games, about what it is.

The Nintendo Switch Online is a set of online features for the Nintendo Switch console which requires a subscription. The functions are online multiplayer, cloud saving, access to a library of NES and SNES games, voice chat, etc.

The past July, Nintendo released an update to its Nintendo Switch Online app. With this update, the users can access specific services. Such as using voice chat during online games through a tablet or smartphone, and last but not least they finally listen to the users, now you can find and send friend requests directly from the app.

The release notes for Nintendo Switch Online version 2.2.0 explain that the app now has the option to send friend requests through Nintendo’s friend code. Also, it says that gamers can now copy their friend code as a URL or save it as a QR code to share with others, making it perfect and easier.

Although you only can accept a friend request from a Nintendo Switch console. This means the app only works to send a request, but not to accept it.

As said by The Verge, the new code system for multiplayer matches from Nintendo Switch is  “be step back” from the Nintendo Network ID system by the Wii-U. And Nintendo wants to fix it or hide it with the new feature of search and send a request to a friend in the Nintendo Switch Online app.

Nintendo Switch Online now requires iOS 14

The Japanese account of Nintendo on Twitter confirm the last June that an update to Nintendo Switch Online App would affect the support for some older iPhone and iPad models.  Well, the day has come.

At the moment, to update the app now, you need a device running iOS 14, while the previous version was compatible with iOS 12 and later. That means, that in iPhone 5s, iPhone 6s, first-generation iPad Air, iPad Mini 3, and the 6th generation iPod touch, the app it is no longer works.

If you have a newer device that is still serving with iOS 12 yet, you only need to update it in order to keep using the app. To do it, go to “Settings” > “General” > “About”.

Remember, the Nintendo Switch Online app is available for free on the iOS App Store.
