5 Easy Ways to Build Backlinks

By

Backlinks are one of the most powerful tools to increase your websites traffic. They are just links on other websites that lead to yours.

It is important to understand how search engines work before creating a website. Search engines use programs called web crawlers. Those crawlers, or in some cases called spider bots, are browsing pages on the internet and they are following every hyperlink they encounter. The hyperlinks are then added to the search engine database. If no other place on the internet is pointing to your website, the crawlers wont find your page and it will not appear in the search results. The opposite is also true – the more pages contain hyperlinks to your website, the better it is for you because your page will rank higher in the search results.

For a website that is just starting, it is of utmost importance to have as many backlinks as possible.

1. THE COLD-PITCH METHOD

Cold-pitching is considered spammy but it gives you chances to be featured. With this method, you will have to browse the internet, find bloggers that write content within your niche. Send them an email introducing yourself, describing what you do and why your website is worth mentioning.

Make the email short and concise dont overload the receiver with too much information but make sure you dont leave out anything important. Never send email in bulk try to send a personalized email that addresses the receiver by name.

2. BROKEN LINK BUILDING

This method is popular because it is relatively easy to do and it is not as spammy as the cold-pitching. The first step, as always, is to find the authors that create content within your niche. Install a browser add-on for finding broken links. Next, run the broken links checker on the website that you have chosen. A list of the broken list will appear. Copy that list and the exact location of the broken link because you will be emailing that list to its owner.

This is what this strategy is about you are not just cold-pitching the owner of the website, but you are providing something useful to them and, in exchange, you are asking for a little favor. It is a win-win situation.

3. BE A GUEST BLOGGER

Writing content on your own website, no matter how good it is, is not going to increase your traffic if nobody knows about it. A good way to gain exposure is to write content for others. Many influencers accept guest bloggers content. Some will even encourage others to contact them if they have content that they think might be useful to the readers. Others will be more reluctant in accepting guest bloggers articles.

If guest blogging is not mentioned in the About or Contact me section of a website, you can look around and see if any of the articles actually written by somebody else. This will be an indication that the author accepts guest bloggers.

4. BUILD INTERNAL LINKS

It is a bad idea to create content without linking to other content within your website. Think about the crawlers again. If they have reached your website through an outside link, you should take full advantage of that and make them crawl as much as possible within your own website.

One important note to make here is that you should not overwhelm your readers with internal links. Overall, the text they are here for should be readable and should only lead to other content if it is related to the current one. Depending on the length of your article, it is recommended to keep the number of internal links under 100.

5. PROMOTE ON SOCIAL MEDIA

Even in 2020, social media remains one of the best ways to promote your content. Use Pinterest, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to shout out to the world that you have published a very useful guide about something or post an infographic that will attract attention and will eventually lead people to your website. The most important thing is to post content that is both new and useful. If you are retelling a story from 2014, there is not much of an interest in that. Use the right hashtags.

Research competitors and see what hashtags they are using. This is true not only for Instagram but for all platforms that utilize hashtags.

Make sure you are posting in the right time. According to different studies, people in the USA tend to spend more time on social media platforms between 2 pm and 4 pm and then between 8 pm and 11 pm EST.
