Google Play more and more safe! Find out why

By ariannaflamini

On the Google Play Store you can download or purchase, configuring a payment method, applications and digital content you are looking for. Google operators are always working to improve the Play Store of Android devices, so as to give greater security to the platform, for all users who rely on it for downloading apps. There is an important new feature: Google introduces a new section called Data Safety.

This new section allows users, who use the Play Store, to find detailed information about how apps protect, collect and share data. Developers answer questions that users ask themselves, and should ask themselves, about the apps they use.

Security measures explained by developers:

Regarding data collection, developers describe the types of user data that the application collects, how are used, and whether collection is optional. When the developer uses the app to recover data from your device, the data is generally considered collected. While for data sharing, developers specify whether their app shares user data with third parties and what types of data are shared. In this case, the data is considered “shared” when the app can access them and if they are transferred to third parties. In some cases, developers are not required to declare data as “shared” or “collected”. An example can be when you give consent to transfer data after the app explains how it will be used.

How do I find app data safety information?

Below I will explain in a few steps how to find the data safety information of an application. But remember… The information in “Data Safety” applies only to apps that are distributed on Google Play. In addition, this section is only available on Android 5 and later versions.

If you have a mobile device or computer, open Google Play Store and use the search bar to find an app of your choice. Then select it and in “Data Safety” you will find a summary of the app’s Data safety practices in question. For more details, tap “See Details“.
