But what if you can only track your Android phone from an iPhone? And will this work if the lost device is turned off? Find My Device: what’s needed to track down your lost Android phone

Find My Device is the app that can help you track any lost device. But since the app version of Find My Device is only available for Android, in your case you’ll simply have to use the web version on the iPhone used to locate your Android phone. Find My Device offers an incredibly useful service, but there are certain requirements your lost phone needs to meet in order to be retraceable:

– be turned on

– be signed in to a Google Account

– be connected to mobile data or Wi-Fi

– be visible on Google Play

– have Location turned on

– have Find My Device turned on

Unfortunately, you cannot track your phone while it’s turned off. Moreover, your phone can’t be tracked at all if any of these requirements isn’t met. It’s recommended that you set up your phone according to these rules every time you leave the house to avoid any risk of losing it.

Turn on Find My Device on an Android phone

Now, it’s very likely that you already went through the first 5 steps necessary to locate your Android device, but you may not know how to turn on Find My Device. Let’s see how it’s done:

– on your Android phone, go to Settings

– scroll down until you come across the Security section

– then, check for the Find My Device option and turn it on, if it isn’t already

Your Android phone will now appear on Find My Device every time you open the app (also in-browser).

Track your Android phone from iPhone with Find My Device

With all that said, you can find your lost Android phone from iPhone while using the web version of Google Find My Device no problem. On your iPhone, make sure you’re logged in with the same Google account you were logged in on your lost Android phone.

– open your preferred web browser on your iPhone

– sign into your Google account

– go to Find My Device

– thanks to geolocalization, the app will signal your Android phone’s location on a map
