This is a security feature offered by Apple to its users and what it does is allow contact to emergency services in areas where it is difficult to have any network coverage, this is one of the most relevant stability features of the iPhone 14.
Which regions do not have this feature?
The iPhone 14’s emergency SOS via satellite is not going to be available in several areas. It also means that if you buy an iPhone 14 model from these areas, your phone will not have the accessories to connect to the satellite. Apple Support says you will not receive emergency SOS via satellite if you purchase your phone in mainland China, Hong Kong, or Macau. Apart from the previously mentioned areas, satellite SOS will not be available in Guam or American Samoa, also this feature will not be available in places with 62 latitudes.
This function will only be possible in the USA and Canada, although it is possible that in Canada this function will not be functional in many parts of the country due to the latitude.
Is SOS free or do I have to buy it?
If you buy an iPhone 14 this feature is given to you for free after 2 years Apple will convert this service for you to pay, although it is not yet known how much the cost you could pay to continue using it.
How to use SOS services?
To purchase the emergency services, you must follow the following steps to send a text message via satellite for this reason the following steps are offered:
- You will need to click on the emergency text via satellite.
- Then click on “report an emergency”.
- You should answer the questions to give more details and help you.
- This step is optional, and you can choose whether to notify your contacts or not.
- You will have to follow the instructions on the screen to contact the satellite.
- Finally, you must make sure and stay connected until the message is sent.
How to connect your iPhone to a satellite?
While you can’t simply open your phone and choose to connect to a satellite, there are several things you should know about using your phone once it is connected to a satellite. You will be guided to the satellite connection stage when you have answered the emergency questions and are ready to send the compressed and encrypted message.
