Interview with Salvo Leonardi, CEO of Bcame

By Rosy Chianese

The trend of most companies today is to focus on innovation in manufacturing technologies and the integration of all stages of the process with a view to digitization and Industry 4.0. This term indicates a process, arising from the fourth industrial revolution, aimed at a fully automated and interconnected industrial production.

This profound change makes working conditions safer, creates new business models, increases productivity and improves product quality. The transformation in question feeds new desires and needs – which are converted into products and services – that digital facilitates. If you are looking for tailor-made technological solutions, Bcame is the company for your business!

What is Bcame

Bcame is the innovative startup that deals with research and development of software and hardware solutions for Industry 4.0, for the Telco world and for the Tourism & Hospitality sector. To offer customers a product tailored to their needs, Bcame is a system integrator and integrates solutions on market leading eCommerce platforms (Adobe Commerce Cloud, BigCommerce, Liferay, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, Shopify plus) modulating them, with the insertion of other functionalities, on the needs of the customer and has created specialized departments that see the presence of certified resources for each platform.

Among the various customers stand out top brands such as Trussardi, Coin and OVS.

You can find out more about this fantastic startup, reading the interview with Salvo Leonardi, CEO of Bcame.

Hi Salvo, it’s a pleasure to meet you and thank you for your time. Tell us something more about Bcame.

How and when did Bcame’s idea come about?

Bcame was born as a spin off of HFarm. I had created a H Farm headquarters in Catania with 60 resources. We worked well together for a long time. But at a certain point, the priorities have changed and we have decided to separate, in a consensual way, to carry out other projects. I proposed to some of the collaborators to launch a new adventure and, after almost three years, here we are.

How did you launch your company? Did you use crowdfunding campaigns?

We didn’t have to. We invested personal capital, because we already had customers who believed in us.

What services does Bcame offer?

Bcame is a system integrator. We have, say, the fabric ready,  which would be the different eCommerce platforms or whatever, and we build a tailor-made suit, integrating other services: if you want a bow, we put it. If you want a hat, we’ll add it. In addition to this, Bcame also develops native products with which we have had, not to brag, many satisfactions. I mention, for example, Wishandle, an order management system, an integral part of the front-office, designed in omnichannel optics to intercept all the customer’s touch points, a product that allowed us to manage, without stress, a significant amount of orders, with great appreciation from customers.

How do you choose your partners?

Answering this question is simple, but also difficult. In the sense that, in all fields, elective affinities are created. This circumstance also works at work. With certain partners, there is great understanding.

What are your plans for the future?

Bcame was born as a system integrator linked to the world of Luxury Retail. But we decided to open up to other sectors, such as Telco, IIOT and Tourism, which saw us present, but to a lesser extent. We will soon change headquarters and, from a medium office, we will move to a very large space (about 1000 square meters) in which we intend to build a real laboratory.

Curiosity:  Bcame is also very careful to enhance the Sicilian territory and its resources, do you want to tell us how?

The headquarters of Bcame is in Sicily. This circumstance is not the result of chance, but was strongly desired. We are investing in a new location because we want to create value in the territory. We also hire young talents of all ages: from recent graduates, on internships, to junior and senior engineers and computer scientists. I take advantage, indeed, of your interview to invite those who want to get involved, demonstrating professionalism and character, to send the resume.  Right now, we have about 40 assets and we’d like to get to 70 at the end of the year. We also want to create more and more synergies with the world of education: from the Higher Technical Institutes, to ITS to the University. From this point of view,  a common strategy must be shared between companies and training bodies in Sicily if the younger generations are not to be allowed to flee.  We are there and we want to get involved!
