Interview with Tommaso Scalzi, CEO & founder of Resilia Service

October 7, 2021
In these times of uncertainty and difficulty, plagued by an ongoing pandemic, the innovative technology Resilia Service is offering, can help us all get by in our daily lives.
This young start-up with a young team is in for a challenge: providing people with cutting-edge digital solutions that will allow everyone to easily and efficiently access professional services. Moreover, Resilia’s platform is looking out for those small business owners who lost it during the pandemic by providing them with self-care services at local level.
How does Resilia Service work?
Available on iOS and Android, the Resilia app works as a meeting point between vendors and citizens, where citizens can purchase the services offered by the vendors. Vendors can therefore promote their businesses locally, while the citizens can choose the service they prefer, even at-home.

Hi Tommaso, nice to meet you and thank you for your time. Resilia Service: what is it, exactly?
Resilia is a project based on the digitization of what in Italy we call “Servizio alla persona” which means every service a person is in need daily. Instead of wasting your time by endlessly looking around to find a necessary service, the Resilia app allows you to immediately find the exact thing you were looking for, and you could even get it directly at home. We’re on a mission to help people with innovative, digital and practical solutions that can improve usability in regards to the IT systems at our disposal. Another crucial aspect is the “Good Economy”, which also allows freelancers or small businesses to monetize their work, so that they can organically grow their business week by week.
How and when was Resilia Service born?
It happened last year: the pandemic seriously affected the movement of goods and services, and we acknowledged how dire the situation was due to the people’s impossibility of fulfilling their daily needs. I told my partner and future Resilia co-founder Thomas: “We have to do something”. And that’s how the app came to be. Although we’re young, we’ve got a solid professional background. Our prerogative was to combine digitization and the “traditional way”. We want to be close to the people, and meet their needs in as little time as possible.
How long did it take for the project to take shape?
Resilia Service was created on January 5th 2021, 4 months in it got into the special branch of innovative start-ups, and after only 8 months it was launched on the market. We still have a long way to go regarding development, implementation and sharing, but in so little time we managed to set foot into a society that’s rising up again from the pandemic crisis.
What is Resilia Service’s target audience, and how has been the market responding so far?
Resilia is targeted toward the so-called “B2B2C communication”: getting the supply involved for the demand. The macro-areas of interest are Healthcare, Wellness/Beauty, Pet, Consulting and Networking. The conversion rates on proof of interest are very high, although the product hasn’t gotten major publicity yet: in a database with around 37.000 leads, the 6% is actively involved with the project, and will soon bring the app to the consumers.
The pandemic pushed many people to become resilient: is the name “Resilia” hinting at these circumstances?
Absolutely. Indeed, the name “Resilia” comes from “resilience”. We pushed through the hardships of the past year only thanks to our resilience. It’s like we’ve been hanging from a very thin, but also very strong, thread. Not many people know the actual etymology of “resilience”, though! This term comes from “resalio”, meaning the action of putting the boat back into navigation trim after a seastorm knocked it down. We’re from Genoa, we’re “sea people”, what other word could describe us better other than this one?
Did you perhaps resort to crowdfunding to launch your project?
Pure willpower helped us launch this project. Apart from the initial social capital, we came into contact with banks and other institutions that approved of our mission and vision, so they helped us finance the development stage! We haven’t considered a crowdfunding campaign yet; I’m pretty hesitant about it, but we’ll see in the future.
Fun fact: do you use Resilia Service yourselves for requesting services?
That’s for sure! Resilia represents the world we’re building and striving towards; we have to be the first in line when it comes to using the platform, because we have to show we truly believe in what we do!
