Upcoming May Releases to Watch Out For

April 24, 2023
In early January, the studio responsible for the remake of System Shock announced that the game is almost finished and will be released this month. Even though Nightdive Studios decided to delay the arrival of the title. It confirmed that System Shock Remake will arrive on PC on May 30, 2023.
The developer states that all platforms on which the game is published, including Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG, will be affected by this change.
“We were expecting the game to arrive at the end of March. But it turned out to be beyond our reach; we’re all human.”
said publisher Plain. System Shock Remake takes place in the year 2072 at Citadel Station. Here the player takes control of a hacker who must infiltrate and control the AI controlling the place before everything disappears.
Unfortunately, the developer did not set a new release date for consoles, while they did for the PC version. According to Plaion, the title is still confirmed for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, and “more information will be released when we have it.”
What’s the latest on System Shock remake’s release and PC pre-order bonus?
Originally released in 1994, System Shock was one of the games that helped define the genre known as immersive simulation. The new version promises to bring improvements compatible with modern platforms, as well as a new user interface and high-definition graphics.
While developing the new version, some teams who worked on the original game were also working on System Shock 3 simultaneously. While the current status of the project is unknown, we know that Tencent owns the rights and may decide its future.
Nightdive Studios has announced that its revamped version of System Shock will not arrive on time. They have delayed the game’s release for PC and consoles from this month to May 30 for PC. The developer explains on Steam that the March release was “too ambitious.”
Those who pre-ordered the game on PC through Steam, GOG, or the Epic Games Store will receive System Shock 2: Enhanced Edition (which has no date yet) as a gift. Those who want to play the remake on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, or Xbox Series X/S will have to wait a bit longer, with the developer promising more information “as it becomes available.”
System Shock updates the classic game with HD graphics (thanks to Unreal Engine), new UI, improved music, updated cyberspace mode, and realistic blood and injury effects. The PC version also supports 4K and high FPS with Nvidia DLSS. For the uninitiated, this is a technology that improves performance and image quality using artificial intelligence. With Nvidia DLSS, gamers can experience System Shock more smoothly and clearly.
