What We Know About the Upcoming Aliens Single-Player Horror Game by Survios

August 1, 2022
The franchise of the cult classic Alien keeps on expanding even to this day with new video games coming out almost every year. And now, a brand-new Aliens title is in the works.
In today’s article, we’re going to find out something more about the new Aliens game announced by Survios!
A Survios and 20th Century Games collaboration
The latest entry in the Aliens game saga will be a collaboration between 20th Century Games — the video game publisher of 20th Century Studios — and Survios, the developer behind Raw Data, Electronauts and Creed: Rise to Glory, to name a few.
The new Aliens will be a single-player action-horror experience
The upcoming single-player action-horror game will be obviously set in the iconic Alien universe. It will feature an original storyline taking place between the events of the Alien and Aliens films.
All we know about the narrative aspect is that it is centered around a battle hardened veteran and his vendetta against the Xenomorphs.
Developed with the use of Unreal Engine 5, the game will be available for PC, unspecified consoles and VR.
This isn’t the first time we’re getting an Alien single-player survival horror game. Creative Assembly’s Alien: Isolation (2014), for example, is based on very similar premises.
Meanwhile, Aliens: Fireteam Elite (2021) has a slightly different approach, being a more action-packed multiplayer third-person shooter.
The Alien panel at San Diego Comic-Con
The Survios team was supposed to reveal more information regarding the title at the San Diego Comic-Con Alien: Expanding a Dark and Frightening Universe panel on July 21st. But, unfortunately, that didn’t happen: due to Covid, the studio’s chief product officer TQ Jefferson couldn’t attend the event.
As the game’s creative lead, Jefferson’s intervention for sharing the first details about the new game with the world was highly valued. Therefore, the team decided it is better to wait and make any announcements at a later date.
Nonetheless, fans got some interesting info about the evolution of the Alien franchise in the near future.
New Alien-based novels, a Hulu movie and an RPG
First, a new Alien film for the streaming platform Hulu is in production.
Then, a trilogy of Alien novels are being developed, with Alien: Colony War, written by David Barnett and published on April 26th, 2022, and Alien: Inferno’s Fall, co-authored by Clara Carija, on its way.
Another upcoming novel, Aliens Vasquez by Violet Castro, will expand upon the beloved 1986’s Aliens character.
And lastly, Andrew Gaska talked about the development of Alien: The Roleplaying Game. He defined it as a source book for the Alien universe, a way to tie years of stories together. The RPG will include a specific incident from the new trilogy of novels, inserting your player into those events.
