By Alex Balaniuc

Sometimes you may delete an Instagram post, Story, Reel or IGTV video by accident, or maybe your account was hacked and the culprit decided to remove some of your content. Either way, in case something similar happened to you, know that it is completely possible to restore the deleted content thanks to one of Instagram’s built-in features. In fact, you won’t need to download third-party apps to achieve your goal. So, if you’re interested in learning about what the feature is and how it works, keep reading: we’re going to find out how to restore a deleted Instagram Reel and repost it on your Feed!

Restore deleted IG content with the Recently Deleted feature

Recently Deleted is a pretty recent addition to Instagram, since it was first introduced on February 3rd this year. This feature has been consistently requested by Instagram users in the past, especially due to the fact that cyber attacks on the platform often involve the deletion of the victim’s content. Before Recently Deleted was added, the chances of restoring deleted posts were slim to none.

Here’s how it works: photos, videos, Reels, IGTV videos and Stories you choose to delete (or get accidentally deleted) are removed from your account and moved to the Recently Deleted folder. This section of your account, therefore, keeps your deleted IG media “alive” for a while, so that you can always go back and restore the content you got rid of if you had a change of mind. Deleted posts, Reels and IGTV videos stay in the Recently Deleted folder for up to 30 days, while deleted Stories that are not in your archive will stay in there for up to 24 hours.

Now that you know what Recently Deleted is, let’s get into how to restore a deleted Reel.

How to restore a deleted Reel to your Feed

Restoring a deleted Reel is an extremely easy process that consists in only a few steps. As mentioned in the paragraph above, Reels are a type of media that can go up to 30 days without getting automatically deleted from the Recently Deleted folder. Once you access said folder, apart from restoring deleted content, you can also permanently delete it.

With all that said, just do the following in order to restore a deleted Reel to your Feed:

– open the Instagram app on your mobile device

– sign into your account

– now, tap your profile picture at the bottom right to access your profile

– next, select the menu icon (the three horizontal lines) at the top right corner of the screen

– tap Settings

– then go to Account

– here, scroll down until you come across the Recently Deleted option

– once you’ve selected Recently Deleted, you’ll be able to view all of the deleted content from your account and Feed

– select the Reel you want to restore, and tap Restore (you can also permanently delete some of your content)

– that’s it!
