OpenAI Launches GPT-4 Turbo and Custom Chatbots

November 7, 2023
Less than a year after its high-profile launch, ChatGPT is being used by 100 million people every week. And there’s much more to come! On Monday evening, OpenAI hosted a developer conference, announcing a range of new features for its chatbot. The conversational agent has received an unprecedented update that introduces some significant improvements.
GPT-4 Turbo
This is OpenAI‘s new flagship model. Faster, more efficient, and better at following instructions, it has a much broader contextual window than its predecessors. It can process up to 300 pages of text in the same chat (128,000 tokens).
This new version is also updated. So far, ChatGPT‘s knowledge corpus ended in September 2021 (January 2022 for Plus subscribers). GPT-4 Turbo is based on a data corpus that ends in April 2023. This means you’ll get fresher answers without needing to use the Browse with Bing plugin.
GPT Builder
OpenAI provides you with the keys to easily customize your chatbot. While developers were already able to do this, regular users now have the option to create their own GPT without needing to know how to code.
This feature is aimed at both individuals and businesses looking to harness generative artificial intelligence for a specific task (customer service, management assistant, revision aid, vacation planning, and more). All you need to do is provide your GPT with the information and documents it needs to function effectively.
As a reminder, ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise subscribers can already start creating customized GPTs.

GPT Store
OpenAI also made another important announcement during the conference. The company will soon create an online store for customized chatbots. Users will be able to shop to find what they need, while designers will be rewarded for their creations.
“At the end of the month, we will launch the GPT Store so that users can showcase and earn from their GPTs,”
promises OpenAI.
