Spotify: how to hide or unhide a song
November 2, 2022
By now, Spotify has become part of the lives of billions of people around the world, being a platform that offers a digital playback service for music, podcasts and videos. Thanks to this platform, you have instant access to millions of tracks. With the basic service, which is completely free of charge, you have the possibility to play your favourite songs in random playback with the interruption of a few advertisements. However, you can also choose to upgrade to Spotify Premium, thanks to this feature, the platform offers you recommended tracks based on your taste, the possibility to create music collections and podcasts, ad-free track playback, and much more. It’s not just a platform you can listen to on mobile, but also on other devices such as computers, tablets, speakers, TVs and cars, plus you can easily switch from one device to another thanks to Spotify Connect.
Hiding a song you don’t like
As mentioned above, Spotify gives you the possibility to listen to millions of tracks from a wide range of artists and genres. It may happen, however, that you do not like a song and it continues to be in your playlist, or, having the basic service, you want that song to no longer be offered to you. Fortunately, you have the option of hiding a song that you do not like to prevent it from being displayed, and then you can choose whether to show it again. Here’s how.
Spotify gives you the option of hiding tracks that you do not like, however there is a downside, which means that you can only do this using the Spotify mobile app for Android devices, iPhone or iPad. Therefore, if you listen to music from your PC or Mac, the track you have hidden could still be played. Moreover, it only works with playlists created by Spotify itself. An alternative to not listening to the song from your computer is to remove the song from your playlist, but this does not guarantee that it will not appear elsewhere.
Choose the song to be hidden or shown
We will now show you how to hide a song on Spotify. First, log into your account by opening the mobile app on your Android device, iPhone or iPad. Look for the track that you no longer wish to listen to, select it and tap on the three dots icon next to the track. In the menu that opens, tap on the option Remove from this playlist. If, on the other hand, you change your mind and decide that you want to listen to that song again, the operation to be performed is very simple. Log in again via the mobile app, locate the playlist containing the track you removed, tap on the three-dot icon next to the song and select the Hidden option to restore the song to the playlist.
Personalise your Spotify experience
With the above steps, you have the possibility to customise your Spotify experience, choosing yourself which songs to listen to and which not to. That said, however, if you want to improve your personal playlists and are tired of listening to advertisements that interrupt your daily relax, Spotify gives you the option to upgrade to Premium. This way, you can listen to all the tracks you want without interruptions. In recent years, the platform has also added other Premium plans including: Spotify Premium Duo, Spotify Premium Family and Spotify Premium Student.
