Blockbuster Release Date & Time
November 14, 2022
Now that the month of spooky movies is finally over, November brings exciting films and TV shows that audiences have been waiting for. A very clear example is Blockbuster, one of this month’s most acclaimed titles.
A TV show that will star Randall Park alongside Melissa Fumero, Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s star. This time the plot will be set in the last Blockbuster video store in the United States of America, where we will see that although it is not easy to renew a dying business, our main characters will try to do whatever it takes.
But what is Blockbuster, and what is its history?
Well, for those who don’t know, in the early 2000s, Blockbuster was one of the largest video rental franchises, with thousands of locations around the world. In fact, it was founded in 1985 by David Cook, who, with the help of his wife, found movie rentals a form of business.
To achieve this, Cook used his knowledge of databases, and eventually the company’s first location was opened in Dallas in the same year, and just two years later it had more than 15 stores of its own, which were a sensation among movie lovers.
Latin America, such as Peru and Argentina, among others. However, in places like Spain, they had to close earlier than expected because piracy in the country had begun to seriously affect their profits.
Nonetheless, it did not take long for it to be affected by the appearance of other services to enjoy movies, so in 2010, the company had to close.
Currently, there is only one location in Bend, Oregon (USA) that still operates thanks to the fact that the brand has an agreement with Dish Network (a satellite television company that bought it to turn it into a streaming platform).
Curiously, it is said that in 2000, the owners of Blockbuster had the opportunity to buy Netflix; at that time, the streaming platform was just starting; nevertheless, the shareholders of the video rental company believed that the service would not be profitable. Although it is well known, Netflix has been a boom since its launch, and the rest is history.
Now, due to the importance and popularity it had at the time, a television series has recently been made about the “last company store in existence” and how the workers strive to keep it running.
Will they manage to do it without losing their comedic purpose? You’ll have to watch the show to find out. So with that in mind, let’s take a look at the broadcast details of the show in the next section of our article.
Blockbuster release date: Where to watch it online?
