Find Out How Samsung Improve Photos With AI

By eduardogaitancortez

Samsung photo remastering is a functionality that enables the terminal to examine photos and enhance them through AI (artificial intelligence). This functionality is included in the phone gallery and is available on certain of the models updated to the latest One UI variants.

How to use this function

To use this functionality, you just have to follow these steps:

  • Open the gallery and select the photo you want to improve.
  • Click on the menu button (three dots) at the bottom right.
  • Click on “Remaster Image”. Wait for the process to finish and compare the before and after with the vertical line that appears on the screen.
  • If you love the result, click on “Save”. If not, you can abort the process.

With this functionality, the phone can save more detail and quality in the photos, especially in those that remain somewhat blurry or with low resolution. However, the process is not final and you can go back to the original version if you want. You can also zoom in to see the changes in more detail.

In recent years we have seen a proliferation of photo retouching tools that were capable of changing an old image with low resolution, sharpness, color and lighting into a veritable paragon of virtues due to algorithms, artificial intelligence, deep learning and all those terms that continue to revolutionize the planet. In the smartphone sector, he still used several tools capable of doing something similar, although with restrictions, which led us to use Photoshop on the computer for these questions.

The Remaster option

Now, Samsung has decided to place land in between with respect to the competition and was one of those that gives standard. This due to Android 12, a remastering choice for each of those photos that we save in the device’s Gallery. It should be mentioned that this functionality has just landed on all mobiles that received Android 12 with UI 4.0. As one more leg within the gallery editor that, very slowly, is succeeding in functionality.

In this way, if you want to easily touch up said old photo that you took with a mobile phone with a few megapixel camera and with zero control of light and color. This is what you have to do. And the first thing is to go to the “Gallery” of the mobile. There we look for the image we want to retouch and select it. A full screen opens up so we look for the 3 vertical viewpoints in the bottom right and tap on them. Of each of the possibilities that will appear to you, we are left with the “Remastering image“. That opens a completely new instance of the application and starts the automatic study.

The mobile will display squares while processing the image. A vertical line will appear after scrolling, separating the before and after of the photo. We can drag the handle to see the optimized version in detail. To zoom in, we can use the pinch-out gesture. This allows us to see the changes almost down to the pixel.
