Here’s how to remove a vehicle from your Uber account

Uber Technologies Inc., commonly known as Uber, is an innovative American company that offers a list of different services, like vehicle hiring, food delivery (Uber Eats), package delivery, couriers and freight transportation. The company, created in 2009 and now based in San Francisco, gained extreme notoriety over the last few years; Uber now operates in over 900 metropolitan areas worldwide and its estimated monthly users amount to about 78 million.

But what is Uber exactly about? Speaking of the basic Uber service, UberX, we could say that it offers an alternative to traditional taxi cabs. This means that there are two roles within Uber: the driver and the rider, and both have to first download the Uber app and create their own account to use the service.

The driver creates their own profile with their personal info on the app and adds the vehicle they’re going to drive. All characteristics of the vehicles registered on the driver’s account must be indicated (color, plate, model,…). Of course, the driver must be 18 (21 in the US) and have a driver’s license to use the service. Here’s how UberX works: drivers pick up their clients through the app, so whenever a Uber user needs a ride, they can look for a driver in their area, and the one who’s closer will be assigned by Uber to the rider.

The app also handles payments, so clients don’t need to pay the driver face-to-face, because users are asked to enter their credit card info when they sign into Uber. As a rider, you can rate your driver on a scale of 1 to 5, and drivers can also do the same. Plus, the entire ride is tracked by the app, for safety and accountability.

The affordable prices and the quality of the service are no doubt the aspects that made UberX a staple in the ride-sharing department for millions of people, and for these reasons Uber is a dreaded competitor to taxi cab drivers. A taxi driver usually demands a higher fee for their service. Also, the quality of the service offered by Uber’s drivers is usually high, since the best rated drivers are the ones who get more rides.

Removing a vehicle from your account

Now that we got the introduction to Uber out of the way, let’s talk about the reason for which you clicked on this article: how can you remove a vehicle from your Uber Rider account?

Unfortunately, you can’t remove the vehicle yourself, since Uber Help’s support team will handle that. First, you’ll need to go to the Uber Help website.

Now, scroll down a bit and you’ll see a set of options at the left of your screen. Under Riders, click on Driving & Delivering.

Once you’re in said page, go to Account and Payment and select Updating vehicles and documents.

Now click on Remove my vehicle.

You’ll then be asked to fill out a form by entering your vehicle’s year, make and model, its license plate number and, optionally, the vehicle’s additional details.

Submit the form, and all you have to do now is to just wait for Uber’s support team to complete the remotion process, at the end of which you’ll get a notification email.
