How to hide likes on your Instagram posts

Instagram has become the social network of choice for users. According to eMarketer, there are approximately 1.074 billion monthly active users on the platform. Founded in 2010 as a platform that only allowed photos to be shared, over the years it has added various functions such as messaging, video sharing, the possibility of live streaming and the display of stories, i.e. the sharing of photos and videos on a sequential feed that is only accessible to third parties for 24 hours.

Due to the vast number of users who use the platform every day, you will certainly want to update your privacy, perhaps by hiding the likes in the posts you publish. First of all, if you are particularly concerned about privacy, we advise you to set up your Private Account, so that your posts and likes are only visible to the relevant followers, let’s see how to do it. If you are doing this from a smartphone, open the Instagram app and log in to your account. Tap on the little man icon or the miniature of your profile picture in the bottom right-hand corner, then tap on the three lines in the top right-hand corner, go to Settings, then Privacy, under the heading Private Account, drag the switch to ON, then if requested confirm the operation.

If you do this from your computer, the process is slightly different. Access Instagram via the official website, click on your profile picture in the top right-hand corner and click on Settings. Now click on Privacy and security and click on the small square next to Private Account.

How to hide likes

Unfortunately, it is not possible to hide the likes you put on other users’ Instagram posts, but it will reassure you to know that the likes you leave can only be seen by the users in question. You do, however, have the option of seeing all the posts you have liked and in case, choosing to remove it. Here’s how. In the Settings section, tap on Account and go to Posts you like, here you can remove the like by tapping on the heart icon of the respective photo. If, on the other hand, you want to hide the number of likes on Instagram, please note that this can currently only be done from mobile. Again, after logging into Instagram, tap on the bottom right of your little man icon or the thumbnail of your profile picture and select the three lines icon in the top right-hand corner. Tap on Settings, Privacy then Post, and finally, under the heading Hide the number of likes and views, move the switch to ON. In this way, you will no longer be shown the number of likes and views of posts on your account.

Do you want to hide the number of your likes from other users? Quite simple. Select your little man icon or the thumbnail of your profile photo at the bottom right, tap on a photo to which you want to hide the number of likes, at the top right tap on the three dots icon, then select Hide the number of likes. In this way, only you will be able to see the number of people who have liked your photo. If you want to hide the number of likes on all of your photos, repeat this last operation for all the photos on your profile.
