How to pay with PayPal on Amazon

By auroraoddi

Founded in 1994 and over the years becoming one of the world’s most profitable e-commerce companies, Amazon is definitely one of the best sites for online shopping in Italy. It offers all kinds of products, favours fast and secure shipping, and in particular has an excellent after-sales service in case of problems with orders. All these services are paid for by entering your credit card details among the payment methods. Surely those more attentive to sharing information on the Internet will have noticed that PayPal, the world’s most popular and most secure payment method, is not supported. However, we are not saying that Amazon does not support other payment methods, in this guide we will show you how to use PayPal on Amazon.

Amazon payment methods

Amazon allows payment with any modern credit, debit or prepaid card, so a card that supports these circuits:

  • Visa
  • MasterCard/EuroCard
  • Discover Network
  • American Express
  • Dine’s Club (U.S. billing addresses only)
  • JCB
  • NYCE
  • STAR
  • China UnionPay

So, if the card you use corresponds to one of these international circuits, you will have no problem buying products on Amazon. Be careful, however, that the card you have has a PAN, i.e. the card number, of 16 digits. Some cards in fact have a PAN of 19 digits and, even if Amazon has international circuit support, they will be rejected.

How to pay with PayPal

In the past, it was possible to add PayPal prepaid cards as a prepaid MasterCard and make purchases on Amazon using PayPal. As of 2019, this method is unfortunately no longer supported by Amazon, but those who still have an unexpired PayPal card can add it and make payments, which new users cannot do. To shop at Amazon with a PayPal card, the only way at the moment is through online Amazon vouchers that can be purchased at This site in fact supports the PayPal payment method, you have the possibility of purchasing Amazon vouchers from 5 up to 100 Dollars. The good thing is that the vouchers are accumulative, so you can easily reach the amount you want to spend. Once you have purchased the voucher, you have to enter your e-mail address and correctly choose the Amazon site of reference for the different countries. Once this is done, you will receive the voucher code as an e-mail to your e-mail address. You then have to enter the code sent to you on the Amazon gift voucher page. If necessary, log into your Amazon Account, enter the code and add it to your Account. The money will then be added to your balance so that you can use it whenever you want.

Accumulable vouchers

As mentioned above, Amazon’s fortune lies in the possibility of accumulating vouchers. Beware though, the vouchers expire after 10 years so don’t leave them in oblivion. In this way you will have effectively moved the money you had in your PayPal account, or the cards associated with it, to Amazon via gift vouchers without the need to add the card directly on the site.
