Is ‘Witchbrook’ Related to ‘Stardew Valley’?

February 19, 2023
Witchbrook is the perfect game if you want the chance to play a very lovable and relaxed game, as this one fulfills those characteristics. Chucklefish is the one that is being published and developed, and the cozy life that can be seen thanks to the previews that have been seen through screenshots, all the fans are very excited to play this game.
If you watch the game, you may think that it looks similar to Stardew Valley, however, we are going to check today if both are related.
‘Witchbrook’ and ‘Stardew Valley’
Even though there are quite a few things that look similar in both games, the truth is that Witchbrook is not related to Stardew Valley. But still, there are many similarities that people have seen and many believe that the two games are related to each other, in one way or another.
In fact, there is one thing that makes these beliefs even greater, because the team responsible for publishing and developing Witchbrook, Chucklefish, is the team that used to publish Stardew Valley.
However, Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone, who is the developer of Stardew, since the team stopped publishing the game, has taken over publishing duties for Stardew Valley. In this way he cut the only connection that linked the games remotely, due to having the same equipment.
Differences:
Despite having nothing in common, Witchbrook has a colorful, pixelated art style reminiscent of Stardew Valley, and even the game will let you build relationships with other members of the town, or so the rumor goes. But really, even if their styles have things in common or may seem very similar, aside from the usual trappings of the life-sim genre, Witchbrook is a completely different game than Stardew Valley. Also, we can see that in Witchbrook it sends you to the magical Witchbrook College, but on the other hand, in Stardew Valley you were in picturesque Pelican Town.
In the magical Witchbrook College you will be able to have classes where you will be able to gain skills that will grow as you go to the classes, and you will also be able to undertake a quest to unravel mysteries related to your school. Other activities that you can do, when you are not at school are for example, go fishing, harvest crops, forge magical plants and also explore an extensive map where you will find many new things.
‘Witchbrook’ does not yet have a release date
There are some gameplay trailers, however, a release date for Witchbrook has yet to be released. The team that is working on developing the game has around 18 developers, and since Chucklefish has a very important policy for both its employees and its users and players, which is “zero crunch”, as a consequence there is no release date now, because it may not be possible or something may go wrong, so they want to be sure of the release.
Witchbrook has only been announced for PC so far, although it’s very possible that the game will end up being available for other platforms and devices, for example Xbox, PlayStation and Switch.
In 2016 Witchbrook was revealed for the first time, however, there was no further news regarding the game for several years. Despite this, it seems that the developers who are working on the game have done it with a lot of effort and for a long time.
At the moment, if you want to be among the first to get a chance to purchase the game, it is available on the wishlist on Steam, where it is listed as “coming soon”, so we hope that this launch will be very soon to be able to enjoy this new game.
