What’s new in Google Nest?: Improve your smart home!

By Valentina Tuta

In recent days, Google has announced a couple of new Nest products and features, including the newly redesigned Google Home app, a wired doorbell, and Nest Wifi Pro with Wi-Fi 6E that will help you to make your smart home even better!

More sustainable options with Nest Renew

You see, your smart home can now support a cleaner energy future. With products like Nest Renew, your thermostat can automatically adjust your heating and cooling usage times so that you can prioritize clean energy sources in your area, like wind and solar.

By the way, this new accessory has already helped a lot of customers prioritize over 20 million hours of cleaner energy usage while also saving them money in just the couple of days it has been on the market.

New and smarter devices

Are you worried about unwanted guests or possible intruders in your home while you are away? It won’t be a problem anymore! The new Nest Doorbell has smarter features to bring you more peace of mind. It also uses your existing doorbell’s wires, so you never have to worry about charging it or running out of power.

What makes it special is that, with the help of Google’s built-in machine learning, it can do things like send faster, more accurate alerts and tell the difference between people, packages, pets, and vehicles. And its image quality is so good that you never miss an important moment.

Best of all is that with the Chromecast with Google TV (launched last month), you will be able not only to see what to watch (without jumping from app to app) but also check out your front porch on the big screen with your new Nest Doorbell.

Stronger connections with Wi-Fi Pro and Matter

Along with the new products and features, Google has expressed its interest in developing easier to connect devices, since usually they are hard to set up, don’t always work when you need them to and there are too many apps to navigate.

That’s why the team has introduced Matter, a new smart home connectivity standard developed by Google and other industry partners that will launch this fall. This feature will make your smart home devices more secure, more reliable, and able to work with each other right out of the box.

Furthermore, the company committed to making this device available across the entire Google ecosystem (from enabling Fast Pair with Matter on billions of Android phones for simple device setup to updating our existing Google Nest smart speakers, smart displays, and routers to control Matter devices).

It should also be noted that they will include the Nest Wifi Pro Router as well. Their new high-performance Wi-Fi 6E tri-band mesh router system will allow you to access the all-new 6 GHz radio band, enabling Wi-Fi up to two times faster than Wi-Fi 6. Basically, it’s one of the most reliable connectivity solutions for your smart home.

A redesigned and more helpful Google Home app

Last but not least, we have the new look of the Google Home app, which was already designed to support your smart home now and in the future, but with the latest update you can use it to access and manage over 80,000 different Works with Google Home devices in a single place.

On the other hand, internal features such as the main menu (will provide you with more control over the devices that matter most to you and your home), the camera experience (you can quickly access the live view of your cameras, easily scroll through video history and revisit your most important moments), and a new Automation tab plus (to automate your smart home devices).

Moreover, the company has said that early next year, they’ll launch a script editor with over a hundred new features and capabilities to help you create more unique routines that fit your needs. These new Google Home app experiences will be available first in public preview over the next few weeks.
