If you want to find out how to remove auto-capitalization from your iPhone, you’ve come to the right place. Syrus offers this guide to help you answer all the questions you have about tech issues. Let’s say you have a new phone and you want to change its settings. In particular you would like to change the keyboard settings. Don’t worry, every smartphone gives you the ability to make this change directly from your device.

In fact, you may have noticed that whenever you type a message, write in notes, make a post on a Social Network, the initial letter is always capitalized. Do you want to change this setting? Don’t worry the steps to follow are very simple.

How to remove auto-capitalization

Auto-capitalization is a feature of smartphones that capitalizes the first letter of a sentence. If you want to remove auto-capitalization in an iPhone, the steps to follow are very simple. Remember, however, that sometimes grammar rules dictate that we need to remain lowercase on certain words or phrases, just as they dictate it for capitalization. If you want, however, to remove this option, all you need to do is head into the general settings of your iPhone so that auto-capitalization is turned off. Here it is:

  • Access the iOS System Settings
  • Tap on the General heading
  • Scroll down and tap on the Keyboard item
  • When you get to the Auto-capitalization item, move the toggle from ON to OFF

Basically, after doing this, the auto-capitalization feature should have turned off. It may happen, however, that this option is not sufficient to disable the automatic system in question. You can solve this problem by acting on the auto-correction option in each application you use. Let’s look at two examples.

Pages for iOS

Start the word app for iOS and follow these steps:

  • Click on your avatar icon in the upper left corner
  • Now open the main menu of the application
  • Head to the Settings item
  • Now under Automatic formatting while typing move the toggle to OFF

Pages for iOS

Start the pages app for iOS and follow these directions:

  • Open any document from the home screen
  • Tap the Edit button
  • Tap on the three dots icon
  • Head into Settings
  • Go to the Autocorrect item and move the toggle to OFF

Additional keyboard options

Once you have disabled auto-capitalization on your iPhone, we recommend an additional guide that may come in handy. If you then followed the previous steps in this article, you will have opened your smartphone’s settings by accessing the Keyboard section. Within this entry you will find other options that you might be interested in regarding the use of the keyboard. Which ones? For example, in addition to removing auto-capitalization you also want to remove autocorrect because you find it annoying and sometimes confusing. The thing to do is very simple, so here’s how you need to get started:

  • Go to settings on your iPhone
  • Tap on General
  • Tap on Keyboard
  • Under autocorrect, move the toggle to OFF

As you will notice within the page you are on, the keyboard features you can change are different. You can change them by moving the toggle of the item you are interested in to OFF. Don’t worry if you decide to change this option further in the future, you can do so without any problem by following the same steps and moving the toggle to ON.
