Gunther’s Millions
The strangest thing about this story is not that a dog inherited a large fortune. Billionaire George VI lives in luxury: he travels on private jets, dines on steaks cooked with gold and surrounds himself with a glamorous entourage of attractive models and showbiz people. Legend has it that Gunther’s great-grandfather was owned by a mysterious countess, whose son died in tragic circumstances. Having no more heirs, the duchess bequeathed her considerable fortune to the dog she loved so dearly, leaving him in the care of Maurizio Mian, a close friend of her son, heir to a pharmaceutical company and aspiring theatrical promoter.
Over the past 30 years, Mian has built up an entire emporium in the name of his canine boss, ranging from the acquisition of luxury real estate to questionable social experiments and one of the biggest tax fraud scandals of all time.
In this four-part investigative docuseries, the executive producers scour the world for answers, gain access to previously unpublished archival footage and record highly personal interviews with Mian and those in Gunther’s circle.
