New Google strategies to support your health

By Valentina Tuta

With the arrival of special dates such as Christmas and the New Year, people usually give thanks for what they have and make resolutions for the coming year. Of course for everyone, health is one of those important aspects that can never be missing in our prayers.

That’s why, whether you need help booking that long overdue doctor’s appointment, are trying to understand a new health condition or want to keep an eye on your health metrics, Google can help. Here are six products and features from 2022 that can help you hit your goals.

6 Google features for your health

1. See appointment availability for healthcare providers on Google Search

Okay, first of all we have Google Search. This amazing tool can now help you to find an available appointment date and times for some nearby doctor in the U.S. Thus, even if you’re trying to book your annual check-up, looking for a new doctor or trying to snag a same-day visit for a MinuteClinic at CVS, Search could be a great help.

2. Quickly find mental health resources

In second place we have a very important aspect. When you search for information about suicide prevention in the U.S., you’ll find the easy-to-remember hotline number (which was updated this year to 988) and chat support at the top of your search results. Furthermore, you can access clinically-validated self-assessments for some mental health conditions, such as depression, anxiety, and PTSD.

3. Identify credible health information on YouTube

When you’re looking for health related topics, you’ll find the health source information panels displayed on YouTube very useful. In the same way, these features that were only available in the U.S., will be implemented in eight new countries starting this year, including the United Kingdom, India, Japan, Brazil, Indonesia, France, Germany, and Canada.

4. Find authentic support for health-related issues

People grappling with a health condition often search for more than information, they’re also looking for support. Therefore, when you’re searching for health related topics and questions related to certain conditions (such as depression, anxiety or cancer) you’ll see relevant videos of personal stories.

5. Use new device options to track and understand health metrics

Google is a company that is always worried about its customers. For that reason, it took on the task of updating existing products and launching other news so that you can track health data like check your breathing rate or heart rate right from your wrist with the Fitbit app. If you want to know more about it, you can check out the all-new Google Pixel Watch and latest Fitbit devices including the Sense 2, Versa 4 and Inspire to find your perfect fit.

6. Get more of your health data in one place

As you can see, these are some of the new features Google is bringing to Android users in order to teach them how to manage their data across their favorite health and fitness apps in a better way. And if that wasn’t enough, the company has announced that in the coming months, they’ll continue to support developers to make their platforms even better. Then stay tuned for more!
