Twitter has a long history of helping businesses build oneness and community. However, the recent turmoil around the Elon Musk acquisition layoffs and resulting talent drain has prompted some companies to consider alternatives. 

Now we can check some alternatives to Twitter, here we can see a list that includes social networks established to communicate with followers in a Twitter manner, as well as apps with global communities, civil debate, misinformation and attractive design. Also, some of them are very popular, however, others are not so common for some people.

Mastodon: 

This platform started in 2016 as a source and decentralized project of Eugen Rochko, unhappy with the state and direction of Twitter. 

Believing that instant global communications was too crucial to modern society to be owned by a single company he sought to create a microblogging product that would not be owned by any central authority but would still be practical daily use. Post will allow users to write and share posts, read and comment on content in a clean interface, and purchase individual articles from premium news and advice creators . The platform is not launched, but you can join the waiting list. 

Hive Social:

This is a network for discovering information interacting with others.Find new and trending content on the Discover page with subject communities. Post images, text, polls, Q&A, and more.The New Requests feature helps users meet creators. The content of a network is displayed in chronological order. 

Cohost:

This one is a new social media platform with founders and one employee. Cohost is a site for blogs and posts with no character limit so users can create multiple pages for co-owned collaborative page projects. Cohost offers CSS-enabled gaming experiences called “crimes that push the boundaries of expressive coding. The platform does not use or promote algorithms and it does not sell advertisements or data 

Plurk: 

It is a free microblogging platform like twitter where users can post “plurks” under 360 and send private direct messages.The home page of each user has a timeline shows the posts and a pinned plurk. 

WT.Social:

This is an ad-free short for WikiTribune Social, is a social networking and microblogging platform launched in 2019 by Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales. Users post, discover, share and discuss articles in sub-wikis. The site is intended as a non- toxic and advertising alternative to Twitter and Facebook. 

Koo:

This is a global microblogging platform with over 50 million users from roughly 100 countries. Follow creators, celebrities, or topics. Post messages, polls, videos, and direct messages. 

Amino:

This platform hosts micro-networks called communities that contain discussion boards. Create communities, videos, posts and to represent your interests. Discover detailed live streams, long posts, reviews, analysis, fan art, commentary, fiction, and more. 

Raftr:

This one allows organizations to create custom and private communities. Organizations can measure sentiment and target them to engage more effectively, improve retention, and create a vibrant, connected community. 

CounterSocial: 

This platform was launched in 2017 by an anonymous hacktivist known as “The Jester”, is an alternative social platform with a zero tolerance stance on trolls, accounts of robots and networksCounterSocial blocks IP ranges from abusive countries, and proxies.The platform does not broadcast advertisements or promotional material. 

Medium:

This is an open platform for blogging with over 100 million readers. Users explore personalized ad-free recommendations, dive deep into topics, and find and follow writers and publications. Bookmark posts, highlight passages, and join the conversation on the stories.

Discord:

This is a social platform for voice, video, and text communication. Set up private channels, give members special access, and more. 

LinkedIn:

This  is a networking platform for business professionals that has grown its social media features in recent years, including live-streaming and a news feed. LinkedIn launched in 2003 and was acquired by Microsoft in 2016. 

TikTok:

This is very famous nowadays, it is a short-form video app that has grown from its origins as music dance to a leading social platform for creators, influencers and TikTok lets brands partner with creators to drive commerce.The app has tools for creating, promoting and measuring video, including including ready-to-use templates for campaigns. 

Tumblr

This platform has a dedicated user base, but not as many Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.The recent turmoil around Twitter has caused an increase in Tumblr downloads. 

Snapchat:

This is a social networking app to communicate via text, images, and video. Video chat with up to 16 individuals at once. Users see Stories based on their interests. 

Reddit:

This platform is where the community posts stories, links, images, and videos. The content is then voted up or down and organized into user-created subreddits. 

Meta:

While none of its apps match Twitter’s real-time news feed, Meta’s social networks – Facebook and Instagram – offer tools to grow followers and brand .Meta’s messaging applications allow businesses directly with customers.
