How do You Unlock the TikTok Live Feature?

How do You Unlock the TikTok Live Feature?

“Going live” has become the trendy thing to do nowadays. Livestreaming is, in fact, appealing to many people because it allows content creators to connect more and better with their audience. When you broadcast yourself via live video you, as a creator, can show your followers or friends whatever you’re doing in real time, although you can’t see the other livestream participants. It’s kind of a one-sided videocall, if you think about it. During a livestream, people can interact with you in three main ways: by commenting on the chat, by leaving reaction emojis and by tipping you. Huge social media platforms such as YouTube, Facebook and Instagram have made this new form of communication part of their arsenal a long time ago, and, of course, TikTok came along.

What is TikTok?

TikTok is an app that exploded in popularity during 2020. It was already pretty widespread even before that year, but we could say that the pandemic truly took it to another level and made it inescapable. This is due to the fact that it’s very easy to binge on videos posted on TikTok while you’re stuck at home and bored out of your mind. If you’re not sure about what TikTok is, know that it’s a social media platform aimed at sharing short videos. The short-video format is what defines the app, and also what caused it to get this big; TikTok videos will give you instant gratification and keep you always entertained.

What do you need to unlock TikTok’s livestream feature?

Now, we mentioned that TikTok followed in other social media platforms’ footsteps by adding a live streaming feature. But, here’s the thing: livestreaming is not available to every TikTok user. First of all, to be able to livestream you should be at least 16 years old. Second, you should have a follower count of at least 1,000. If you don’t belong to any of these user categories, you’re unfortunately not allowed to go live. Try to reach these two requirements to unlock the TikTok livestream feature. If you’re over 18 and are able to livestream, you can also get gifts from your followers in the form of money donations.

Go live on TikTok

If you happen to meet all of the requirements, you can go live right at this moment. Here’s an easy and quick guide to do just that:

– open the TikTok app on your mobile device

– log into your account

– tap the “+” icon at the bottom centre of the screen

– now, you should be able to see the Live button next to the Record button

– follow the indications, and you’re done!

How to behave when going live

Remember that when you go live you must follow community guidelines. Violations of said guidelines can be:

– hateful and offensive content

– violent behavior

– nudity

– child abuse

– self-harm

Try to keep it nice, respectful and appropriate; TikTok has lots of underage users that should not be subjected to harmful content.
